So where do things stand? Anything ready for beta or review? Currently I am working on a part-preview for the beta.

Assuming everything is OK down in your neck of the woods, any updates for us regarding the game?

Everything still OK? Will a happy little PDF be making its way to me soon on tiny duckwings?

Everything still OK? Will a happy little PDF be making its way to me soon on tiny duckwings? I know this is a post from a long time ago, but you should have the PDF by now. Are you enjoying DuckQuest?

LOL if it isn't Darcy Perry! Nice to hear from you, my fellow pandemic inmate.
Yes I got the PDF, thank you. Sadly my kid has quit gaming and the kids' group I was DMing for disbanded. No kids, no Duckquest. Eventually the pandemic will fade away and I'll try to start a new group going. This time for the young at heart. My ambition would be to run Duckquest face-to-face so I'd be able to use the minis, which currently languish unpainted.
It would be fun to hear from other backers who actually ran the game. Do you think they'd be willing to post their experiences here on the forum?

Maybe I need to get some traffic heading this way. In the world of the internet, forums aren't used as much as social media platforms like Facebook, etc. However, it would be great to hear how the game is doing in the wild. If you're interested, I am running DuckQuest virtually at a convention in March: tabletop.events/conventions/gary-con-xiv/schedule/1102

I like forums just fine, and they're very much still "in" with the established gaming crowd (as opposed to the current "D&D Next" 5e kids). See Dragonsfoot, RPGnet, Knights & Knaves, ODD74 and The Piazza. There just hasn't been any news or discussion here in a long time, thus no interest. By all means, stir things up and see what happens!
I would be interested in an online game, thanks for asking. I'm just not a fan of Garycon. Maybe some other time.

D&D Next is 10 years old. 5e is 8 years old. Most of the focus on the forums you mentioned is dedicated to games first published decades earlier than 5e. When it comes to rpg's, my gaming group mostly plays Traveller and AD&D 1e. D&D 5e is by far the most popular rpg of all time, and holds attention and sales far beyond it's nearest contenders. You probably already know this, but Pathfinder is the closest, and that's way behind D&D 5e. Ironically, Pathfinder is a clone of D&D 3.5 - so should that really count as a competitor? Three quarters of gamers are playing D&D 5e (or an earlier edition, or D&D clone) and the rest are playing other games like Call of Cthulhu, Star Wars, Shadowrun, GURPS, etc. Indie rpg designers and publishers can have fun and make some cash, but are minnows compared to D&D 5e. Most do it for the love of the hobby, which is why I made DuckQuest.
DuckQuest is one of thousands of roleplaying games released in the last few years. I really enjoyed designing it, and I hope that comes across. That's really what it's all about for me. Enjoying the hobby and being able to share that experience.
I haven't been to Gary Con before, but I am looking forward to running DuckQuest at it. All the play testing for DuckQuest was done at gaming tables. Gary Con will be a virtual session. I also have no idea who will show up. So that will be fun.
I must point out, for the record, I love old school games. Or more to the point, the old school style of playing games. Life is short. You should play to make the most of the time you have together at the table.
It's been a couple of decades since I was active on online forums. We are now in a world where professional voice actors can make a comfortable income playing their D&D campaign live on social media. That doesn't make forums redundant. It's just not where I spend my time. Currently I am designing more miniatures, because I enjoy sculpting. Perhaps another Kickstarter is on the way to get them cast in metal. I have been looking for a publisher for DuckQuest, and have discovered many indie publishers are concentrating on their own creations.
A writer sent me an adventure for DuckQuest, which may end up in an expanded edition or as a zine/module. So that's the next project.
